A fourth-grade girl starting GO FAR recently asked her teacher if she could run in her winter boots, because they are her only shoes.
We're hearing more of those stories: teachers asking for more scholarships than ever before, more schools asking for help to purchase the GO FAR curriculum. Your gift helps more kids at more schools, especially those most in need, discover the fun of physical activity, learn to make smart food choices, and experience success.
Every child deserves a chance to GO FAR. You can be part of the solution as we face the alarming epidemic of childhood obesity. Help us encourage a new generation of runners and health enthusiasts. Donate today to help a child GO FAR in life...
2017-2018 GO FAR Annual Giving Opportunities...
Your unrestricted gift may be used to support any of the following programs, or you may choose to direct your gift to a specific program or event. All gifts must be received at least six weeks prior to an event. Donors who submit gifts after this deadline will be recognized at the following race event.
$25,000+ – GO FAR Family 5K & Fun Run title sponsor (limit 1)
The GO FAR Family 5K & Fun Run is a celebration of health and wellness for children in the Piedmont Triad. Each fall and spring, children from more than 50 local schools train for 10 weeks to achieve their goal of completing a 5K race. This culminating event serves as an exciting finale for more than 4,000 local children annually as they cross the finish line and begin their journey toward good health.
$10,000 - $24,999 – Program Pacer or 5K & Fun Run presenting sponsor
The foundation of GO FAR’s program begins with the 10-week training curriculum for elementary and middle-school children. GO FAR uses running and the 5K race to introduce children to the goal-setting process. In addition to physical training each week, children learn about good nutrition and positive character traits to empower them to make healthy choices in their classrooms, at home and in their communities.
$5,000 - $9,999 – Lace Up Leader
Running is a sport that doesn’t require much equipment, just a good pair of shoes and an open space. For many children participating in GO FAR, shoes are often handed down by siblings and quickly outgrown without the resources for replacements, leaving inadequate footwear that could lead to injury. The Lace Up shoe program was created to provide new running shoes to a portion of children participating in local GO FAR clubs each year.
$2,500 - $4,999 – Club Champion
For many schools and youth facilities, budget cuts and limited funds for extracurricular activities can create barriers for getting started. You can alleviate some of these challenges by adopting a club of your choice to support start-up expenses and race registration scholarships for one full year. This gift will help new clubs get up and running and set them up for a successful first season.
$500 - $2,499 – Scholarship Supporter
Children participating in GO FAR learn how to set and achieve goals – like completing a 5K race! We want to ensure that all children have the opportunity to achieve their goal and by providing financial assistance for race registration, we can give them the chance to cross the finish line at their first 5K.
$1 - $499 – “Sole” Society
A gift to GO FAR in any amount positively impacts thousands of children locally and across the country by building competence and confidence to make healthy choices. Your support ensures that children have the opportunity to get active and excited about healthy living.
