GO FAR Welcomes Jayvon Johnson as New Executive Director

 Please join us in welcoming Jayvon Johnson as the new Executive Director of GO FAR!

 

Mr. Johnson joins GO FAR after a successful run serving as Youth Pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro and brings additional experience as an educator in the Guilford County Schools System and Assistant Director of an afterschool enrichment program. Jayvon is an ordained Pastor, educator, community advocate and small business owner. On what drew him to the position, Johnson says, "I was drawn to the opportunity to reach and develop the gifts and skills of youth from a holistic perspective through running. GO FAR has a rich history of impact in the community, and now is the time to ensure that this gem of an organization is able to reach more young people and create partnerships that together build healthy communities. My vision is simple to REACH, IMPACT, ENCOURAGE, and STRENGTHEN. In each of these areas my goal is to implement strategic and intentional processes to expand our organization and build a name and voice that rings out not just across the triad, yet the nation."

As a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Shontia, and a proud and doting father to their son Parker, Jayvon is determined to make a difference as a leader with a heart to serve, a mind to develop others, and a plan to leave a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come. As someone who has recently taken up running, Johnson has a keen awareness of the power of the impact running can have in one's life. "Running has created a new habit of mental and emotional restoration for me. It allows for me to release negative and damaging thoughts and habits to create a better me for my family and areas I am needed in. I strongly believe in the holistic benefits of running for everyone, but especially youth! Our children need new and life changing ways to become well rounded individuals/leaders. Running, walking/exercise, and eating healthy are foundational concepts that will set them on the path of lifelong success! I believe that GO FAR is the conduit to this."
