Melinda Baker is the lead GO FAR coach at Cape Hatteras Elementary School in Buxton, NC, on the Outer Banks. She started GO FAR with her then-eight-year-old daughter, running for the first time at the first GO FAR practice.

"I was super proud of myself for running the full two minutes. It seems funny now, but at the time I was learning just like the kids," Melinda says.

Within two months of running with the kids, she ran her first 5K in 31:29. Now, one year later, she has run a half marathon and 11 5Ks. "I just ran my anniversary run of the first ever 5K and WON my age group with a time of 22:33. I have a passion for running and the amazing benefits, since I lost 49 pounds and feel amazing!"

"I am a mom of four and my ENTIRE family runs with me because I know how important exercise and good habits are! I LOVE to coach because I want to inspire these kids to GO FAR, and for them to share that same love for running that I have!! GO FAR has changed my life!"
