GO FAR has hired Julie Samuels Hill as the first executive director. Hill, who began her position in mid-May, comes to the program with more than 14 years in the nonprofit industry. Her expertise lies in building relationships within the community and with business partners through grant research and fundraising events. Hill brings that knowledge to GO FAR, where she hopes to make more connections in the community and across the nation, as well as to bring in more schools and sponsors to the national program.

In her most recent role, Hill served as major gifts officer for the High Point Regional Health Foundation where she researched and wrote grants, secured new community business partners, planned and led special fundraising events, and managed volunteers in different roles. Hill also teaches at High Point University as an adjunct professor in the human relations program.

GO FAR’s goal is to educate children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and provides training for a one-mile Fun Run and a 5K. Hill plans to use the GO FAR curriculum to become a runner herself. “It will be a lesson for me to understand the accomplishments the children feel when completing the program,” she says.

“We are thrilled to have Julie Samuels Hill join the GO FAR team,” Lindsay says. “Her leadership along with her energy and experience will help our organization grow stronger, allowing us to reach more children and their families in North Carolina and across the nation.”

Hill shares that vision for growth. “It is my hope to make GO FAR a household name,” she says. “Over the past 11 years, Robin Lindsay, the Board of Directors and dedicated staff and volunteers have established a foundation and reputation of being a quality program for youth in this region and beyond, reaching as far as California. Together we will continue to reach out and GO FARther with help from the community and corporate support.”
