Obesity affects all parts of your well being. Obesity among children age 2-19 has been on the rise for the past 25 years.

- Among children age 2-5; the prevalence of obesity has jumped from 5% up to 12.4%
- Among children and tweens age 6-11 we have seen obesity rise from 6.5% to 17%.
- But by far the largest jump in obesity prevalence is occurring in our young adults where the obesity prevalence has surged from 5% to 17.6%.( Above statistics are from the CDC web site.

- It can hurt your joints. Ouch! Your knees, hips, ankles and feet all take a beating when you have extra pounds pushing down on them.
- It can lead to a condition called Diabetes. Diabetes is a very serious disease and can lead to health problems that affect your eyes, heart, feet and kidneys. In most cases you must take medication for the rest of your life.
- Being overweight or obese hurts your heart. The heart is a muscle and must work a lot harder to pump blood throughout your body.
- Being overweight or obese can cause you to feel depressed, sad about yourself or in general a low self esteem.
